RECOGNITION AND COLLABORATIONS
The importance of our work to establish the Madidi Mosaic has been recognized by various organizations. The following are some examples:
- 1994-95 France 3 does a one hour documentary, The Forest of the Tacanas, showing the efforts made by Eco Bolivia Foundation and culminating with the signing of the park decree.
- 1995 Rosa Maria Ruiz, director of Eco Bolivia Foundation, is named Ashoka fellow. http://www.changemakers.net/studio/99february/ruiz/index.cfm
- 1998 The National Geographic Society asks Rosa Maria Ruiz to prepare and lead their writers, photographers, and video team for coverage of Madidi. The work culminates the year 2000 with a cover story in their magazine, a video documentary, an internet site, and a series of radio interviews through satellite networks.

- 2000 the National Wildlife Federation awards Rosa Maria Ruiz the international conservation prize.

These beautiful macaws mate for life. The moments when they are not looking for food, they are doling out affection. The extraction of lumber in the Madidi Mosaic threatens their survival due to their loss of habitat including their nesting trees. |
